With the winter sports season coming up, I am thinking of getting not only a new body, but a new lens too. I am debating between the NIKKOR 50mm f/ 1.4 or the NIKKOR 85mm f/ 1.8. I will be shooting mostly basketball and wrestling, maybe a little hockey. I'm leaning towards the 50mm, but I would LOVE AND APPRECIATE opinoins from everyone out at dgrin. thanks in advance!

Either lens would be a great option. You have to determine which one meets your needs best and how close to the action you can get. For hockey, you would have to get REALLY close to use either of those lenses.

Depending on the body you want to upgrade to, I would recommend getting a 80-200 AF 2.8 and one of the lenses you are thinking about instead of a new body and lens.

its goign to be primarily wrestling and bball. I want to upgrade to a D90. I want the second body mostly for the ability to have the 2 lenses going at once. also the shuuter speed, higher ISO, bigger display, etc.

    Thoughts?

If the purpose is to have one camera/lens combo for low light and another ready for general photography, it can work.

If you want to have two cameras for work in low light situations, your current lens lineup will not work and you will need to purchase a new body and two more, faster lenses.
