Thanks for looking and commenting :)

Phil - the BG in the last shot is a fuchsia flower - I was doing some dewdrop refractions using it when I spotted the dance fly.

Might have to rename that last shot as The Disco Dance Fly rolleyes1.gif
Man that's a colourful background in that shot.

I like the head shape of the dolichopid fly.
The first Bark Fly looks interesting, are the two the same kind,
one younger than the other? or different species??

    Great collection Brain clap.gif .... Skippy :D

Thanks T and Skippy for the comments :)

Skippy- like the "disco dance fly" :). No the bark flies are different species. I'd guess I get about 10 different species of these in the garden but think there are around 30 species in the UK.

Once again a fantastic series Brian and always a pleasure to look at your shots. By the way I have finally succeeded and started to shoot manual mode so things are really looking up. It has been a long damned haul but I am slowly getting there.
    Regards

Thanks Bob - manual mode/flash is really the only way with the MPE-65.

Great impact in the first. Love the colours in the last. The last three shots suffer from tiny DOF, perhaps stepping back a bit would have helped?

    Admirable, as per usual.

Most of these shots were fairly high magnification and will always have limited DOF
