How to Insert Links in Your Posts

Some people are having a hard time posting links to other URLs in their Dgrin posts, I thought I would show you how.

Here ya go:

1) First, type the text in your sentence leading up to the word you would like to be a link.

Then click on the little button that looks like the earth with a chain under it.

An input box should pop up. In this box you need to put the actual text you want to appear in your sentance. I chose the word "HERE" but it could be any text you want.

Then click OK.

Another input box should pop up. In this box you are going to type or paste in the actual URL or web adress you would like to take the reader too.

It will look like this:

Click OK

This should have inserted the following info in your post. I find it easier to have WYSIWYG off in my settings, If you have it on, it may look a little different than it does here, but will work the same.

Finish typing your post and hit submit.

It should show up in your posts like this:

So I wanted to share a link to my favorite photographers site.

You will find it HERE

When I click the Earth w/ Chain symbol I don't get the same results. My pop-up box says Hyperlink with a place for type and URL.

I also don't seem to have the "Guided Mode" and "Enhanced Mode" options.

What-gives? What am I doing wrong? Operating on a PC & Windows platform.

You can change your edit preferences by going to the "User CP" or User
Control Panel, selecting Edit Options and scrolling down to the misc section
(at the bottom) and changing the Message Editor Preferences. You can
choose from Enhanced (full WYSIWIG), Basic or Standard. The difference
between basic and standard are a few extra editing controls.

Okay, I am doing something wrong here...
I am trying to do a hyperlink with the text as outlined, and I use vBulletin software at other places so this is almost embarassing to ask. But when I click on the createlink.gif icon I just simple get the window that says ""Please enter the URL of your link" I do not get the "Enter the text to be displayed" prompt.

I checked my profile and changed the posting profile to "Standard", "Basic", or "Enhanced" with no change in performance. Am I missing something?headscratch.gif

Oh yeah, Firefox 2.0.0.1 on a Windows XP Pro SP2 machine. It works fine elsewhere...

    Been there.

Highlight the word(s) in your post that you want to make the link.

    Then click the icon.

Then paste in the URL and click OK. It will underline the word(s) that you had highlighted.
