Caught this one preening as she got ready for the day.
Pretty sure it is a Immature Bateleur Eagle. A little OOF shot from the car with hand held 500 mm lens.
Was this at a zoo or were you on a trip to Africa? The composition of the last one is nice and I think that a little sharpening in your photo editor would really make this one shine!

I know, I did a double take when I saw "bateleur" and that the OP is in Texas. To be fair she does kind of have that ruff-necked look. Very pretty raptor.
I just returned from a trip to Africa. I took these shots and many others while in Kruger National Park, South Africa. I have posted some on this forum earlier and still plan to post a few more in the coming days. I took hundreds of photos. Still working through them all.

I used PS to sharpen this a bit using the high pass filter. Is this better? Is it sharpened too much. Is there a better way of sharpening it or is it just too out of focus?
The photo was taken with a 200-500 lens hand-held and propped on the window.

I've been out of town, hence the late reply.
No zoo shots here.

Hi all,
Trying to learn here:
