Thank you all so much for the great comments! The crop is more accidental; had I framed it differently I would have included more "air" in front of the bird, but with the bird center frame, and me wanting to include the "foot prints" I sorta ended up with this. So I do agree on the cropping issues.
I think the way you cropped it works for this image. It's always said to get a picture of the animal running into the frame, but rules were made to be broken and this image is a great example of why. Showing the "footprints" was a great way to compose this photo IMO.
Wonderful capture. I would have gone for a panoramic crop myself.
