Took some Wedding photos in Raw for a friends wedding.
Attempted to download/edit using Photoshop Elements 5
and would get error stating incorrect file.
I had difficulty downloading them to the hard drive.
Had to copy images from my memory card and copy to the hard drive file.
Still couldn't even view the thumbnail, had to downloaded the Plug In from Canon's website, version 1.3.
That allowed me to view the images using the default window vista picture viewer.
Attempted to upload to Elements 5 and would get error stating incorrect file!
What am I doing wrong?
Does elements 5 not allow Raw image files?
The pictures were taken with Canon XTI.
I'm using a 6mo old HP laptop running crappy vista.
HELP!!
Thanks ahead of time!!

This is an easy fix. Your current version of Adobe Camera Raw (also referred to as ACR) needs updating to a version that includes your camera.
Take a look here. Installation instructions are there and are very easy. Basically you will be moving a single file to replace the existing ACR file.
i don't know about elements, but you can set Photoshop to automatically look for updates.

According to the on-line docs, ACR 4.5 is still compatible with PS Elements 5.0
You can get the ACR here. About half way down the page is a link to the readme file. Read it for instructions on how to install it (instruction for PS Elements on Windows is at the bottom of page 3).
