Found her eating a bee. She must have just caught it, because the bee was still moving around--until the head was gone :huh. Between trying to get close enough, and this darn Kansas wind, it was pretty hard to get a decent picture. I did stack a couple of images, which helped some. It was kind of cool watching her eat / devour the bee.

I was not able to get a side shot--where the mantis was in relation to the plant, I would have had to step on the plant, and also would have had to try to befriend a lot of bees. When she was done with her dinner, she got upset with me and turned around, and went into the plant. This is a great spot for feeding, so I will go back and see if I can get more pics.

Eating a Bee and keeping an eye on you at the same time
It's looking quite annoyed at you for interupting dinner time.
Wind just isn't your friend when your trying to do Macro unfortunately.
I would have liked to have seen some side shots too rather than all taken overhead.
Love the look on the Mantis's face .... Skippy

I had not seen one eating a bee before, either. It was very interesting to watch--morbid too, since the bee's head was being eaten while it was still alive .
