This is my first post. I have been lurking for a few days. I can't wait to get my camera. I am very amature, so amature that this is my first camera. So, I'll probably have a lot of questions. But, I am enjoying the pics you all have takenm and the info I;ve read so far.

Wow, first camera. My first digital was a little pice of junk. I would have been in heaven if I had the 828! This is a camera you can grow into and learn every aspect of photography with. And many here have it or have used it in the past, so I am sure you will have plenty of support.

    Welcome.

My first digital was only 1.1 megapixels and that was stretching the marketing spin quite a bit!

I've had my 828 a year and a half now.

My first digital was the Kodak DC20. It sported a whopping .18 mp's (494x373) and the image quality was terrible. In fact, check out this review of the camera:

Notice how he makes a plea to the camera manufacturers that not everybody has a CD-ROM drive or access to the internet hehehe. Ahhh, that takes me back to the glory days all right hehehe.

If I had the 828 back then, I would have gone out of my mind with glee mwink.gif

    Congrats TT clap.gif

As others point out, this is one hot camera. You're in for some fun now ylsuper.gif

Although, limited by 16mb cards, you won't even be able to shoot in RAW. Each RAW+jpg file is about 18mb ne_nau.gif Maybe you can find a cheap 512mb CF (around $50), or at the least a 256mb Memory Stick Pro ($40).

Good luck and welcome to Dgrin

Well, I got the camera, and I'm loving it. I just am overwhelmed right now, trying to figure out how to use it. I'm gonna post some pics that I have taken so far.

Great news! I remember when I first got the 828. I couldn't help picking it up, to get the feel of it, and trying to find all settings without looking. This has proven itself helpful for instance when I'm shooting manual, since you'll have to know exactly what button to press to change the aperature setting. I'm looking forward to your pictures!

Yeah, I love it. I posted a few of my first attempts at macro the other day. It's in the other cool shots section.
