dumb lightroom question

Ok i know this is a dumb question but i got lightroom a while ago and just started using it more. My question is after i crop or edit photos how do i save the changes. i know dumb question but just curious

    The changes will still be there in lightroom when you come back to it. To create a new file with the changes, select the photo in the library and then export it to create a new jpg in the location of your choosing.

    In LR2, edits like cropping and aspect changes require you to hit the Close button to confirm the changes. All other changes are immediate and non-destructive.

    As Jeff indicated, if you want a permanent version of your changes, simply export the image(s)

    Simpler than that. Just create a "snapshot" of the treatment you like.
