Any good spots for shooting downtown LA cityscape?

I had a brief walk around central LA yesterday and there is some impressive architecture there. What I would really like to do is get a shot of the city, at night (so location should be safe). Any recommendations on good vantage points where I could quietly set a tripod up and make a few exposures?
