You make the call

Have a go at calling this close play at home in last night's fast-pitch softball game between the Milton Eagles and their cross-town rivals the Alpharetta Raiders.

Watch the ump's eyes - he's got it nailed.

If she managed to get her foot on the plate in the 2nd shot, then she's in there ....

The ump does look like he's got the call, though .... whatever it turned out to be !

I can't remember the name of the famous umpire that this quote is attributed to:

    "Somes of `em are strikes,
and somes of `em are balls.
But ain't none of `em nothing,
    til I calls `em!"

Last night's plate umpire reminded me of him.

    She was safe.

    Certainly safe. Great shots thumb.gif

I actually got a shot once that reversed a call on the field (football) and was a game changer.

Trick question Kent! If it was bases loaded, she's out in #1! Beautiful capture.

If so, that is a slow ump...no call at the plate in the other frames

You give me too much credit for being able to think that deeply! headscratch.gif

Your shots are SO good that we are in "analysis paralysis" here -- as fun as that may be -- the shots are just amazing (I said that before, but it's worth saying again). Could we know your settings please?

No doubt, she is safe. What gets me is the angle you have on the shot. Either you are the pitcher, or you have some nice long glass :D

    What lens did you use?

Shot looks like it's from the first base line, probably just past the dugout. Thats my gues based on whas left on the base lines, and the runners approach angle.
    Thanks,

I'm sorry for being slow to respond to this request, I just haven't looked at this thread in a couple of days.

I've edited the original post - click on any of the images to review the full EXIF data.

The shots were taken from the dugout along the first base line using a Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 DG lens.
