I got me some pelicans..

It took a while, but these pelicans accepted us and let us get somewhat close..

Just when we were completely accepted by this group of pelicans some knucklehead comes flying over us in a motorized hang glider, and that, as they say, was that. The birds got spooked, left, and never returned.

    Pelicans are more tolerant than most.

    the heads up is common with pelicans, you did a great job with the bright light and back lit ---the bill up makes the shot thumb.gif well done

    What a great exposure you managed to get (or post process). Love the backlit bills. I know a place where the white pelicans gather in the summer, but I don't have along enough lens to get shots like this! Great job, love them.

    Perfectly good waste of a nice 100-400L:cry I could fill the frame with my 100mm *sigh*

    Perfectly good waste of a nice 100-400L:cry I could fill the frame with my 100mm *sigh*

    Its really cheating at that spot Rich. The building is a spot where the fishermen clean their catch so pelicans and woodstorks are all over the place to pick up any leftovers. I've gotten excellent pelican BIFs there with my 24-120 lens.
