Others with Simple Uploader Problems?

No thread started yet so I guess this isn't affecting many people but I thought I'd share:

For as long as it's been around I've used the now retired drag & drop uploader. Since it is retired a couple of months ago I thought I better start using Simple uploader so I made the switch.

All was fine until a couple of weeks ago when simple uploader started crashing Firefox! Sometimes after one or 2 photos sometimes after 10 but it would always end in a crash.

So I switched back to the old drag & drop uploader & everything works as it should.

We have found that updating your current installation of java will typically resolve this issue.

Follow these steps to make sure your java is up to date for a PC:

    1) Go to http://www.java.com

    2) Click on "Do I have Java?" and wait for the test to run.

    3) Follow the steps to get the latest version of Java if you need it.

Sorry to revive an old-ish thread, but I'm having Firefox crash problems as well. I went to the Java site and I do have the latest version. I read on another thread that IE works just fine with the simple uploader, but I much prefer FF. Did anyone come up with a fix for this?

I don't know how to fix it but I would like to add that I am having the same issues. I prefer FF but since the upgrade it is giving me problems uploading images and other problems as well on different websites with tables and fonts all out of whack.

I also have the latest version of Java. I am using IE8 with no problems these days until a new update is released of FF that fixes the problems that were caused for me by the 3.03 update, by then I might just stay with IE.
    Cheers,
    Monte

I just switched to Send to Smugmug uploader. That's a good one, and it's not crashing firefox.

Yeah, the Simple Uploader is the same one Facebook uses and we've been hearing some reports of FF on Windows crashing with it. My understanding is the latest FF update fixed it for most people who were seeing the problems, but if not I'd love to know more about your system, like the version of Windows and any unusual plugins you have for FF.

The great thing about FF is it allows plugins but the bad news is it allows plugins...

I'm still having the same problems listed here... been going on for months now. Are there any new fixes? We really don't have many plug-ins. And today I can't seem to get IE to work today, either... real pain, as I was going to do a photo book before the coupon expires tonight. Will report that latest IE thing on the "Bug" thread. I've never tried the "send to SmugMug" uploader. Could anyone explain how this works? I can't find out through the normal channels right now, because when I click on "add photos" and choose "add to this gallery", nothing at all happens. Just sits there. Aaaargh! Thanks!
