I think it is pretty good. You have ball, action, contact and faces.
If you are looking for technical critique:
1. It is a wee bit soft, I think.
2. Your horizon is crooked (or at least the roadway is, and that confuses the eye).
3. There are some minor, blown out parts.
4. you could potentially crop closer.
5. It would be better without the harsh shadow on the player in back
Ok, I'll give it a go. Also I get the same thing when I "used" to post photos. Here's the problem with that photo and my photos as well.
They're all right. Not great, not piss poor either. Seemingly in any of the forums you need to post truly exceptional photos that few can, or simply awful shots that many are capable of. Anything inbetween doesn't generate the "That's great! You're a God!" or the "That's awful, you suck!" responses.
So as someone who fits into the average category I rarely post photos anymore for the above reasons.
As for your photo:
Action is good, but not great- missed the ball on head, defensive player has back turned.
Lighting is harsh (not your fault)
Exposure is a little hot (not much you can do given the light)
Contrast and color could use some adjustment (IMHO)
Background is crappy, again not entirely your fault, although shooting at F4 instead of F5.6 would'e helped somewhat. This is assuming you were using a 200/2.8 or 70-200/2.8 and TC give the 280mm focal length.
I'm also not a fan of the bokeh on the Canon 70-200/2.8 with a 1.4TC.
