On the road to Arches NP

It's that time of year again for the Dgrin Shootout.
Kate and I were able to make it again this year, and as in the years past, we are doing a pre-shoot.

Iowa and Nebraska didn't offer much for photo ops.
Colorado has some good areas, but we haven't seen them yet, or we saw them again for the 10th time.
There has been a lot of haze in the air. I hope that leaves the area soon.

Once again, I'm working from my Laptop. Hopefully these look OK.
Last year I looked at a few of the shots that I posted from this computer, let's just say it wasn't great.

Anyway, here are a couple of my snaps from today.

Some snow caps.

Many more to come over the next few days.

I'm looking from a laptop right now and don't trust colors etc. BUT the second sand dune shot is soooo sensual. I like the play of shadow and highlight alot! Have a great trip, you two, and keep posting!

    Thanks guys.

We have made it to Santa Fe.
Lots of beautiful country down here, but I haven't been able to capture it very well, but Kate Has gotten a few good shots.
Here are a few of Kate's pics.

When we were driving away from the Great Sand Dune NP, the skies were impressive in the distance.

    384406052_7cqoD-L.jpg

This was at one of many turn outs along the Enchanted Circle drive going towards Santa Fe.
A lot of these trees have names carved in them, the oldest we saw looked to 1915.

    384406089_Huc34-L.jpg

Along the way, we crossed the Rio Grande.

    384406097_5AwJU-L.jpg

That's it for now. My remote mouse died, and I need to get some batteries to process some more shots.
Today, in and around Santa Fe.

Hey Dave! Thanks for going on ahead and scouting out locations for us to shoot mwink.gif. We're hot on your trail, we're following the scent of Kate's cookies. We made it to Golden and tomorrow we're off to Rockey Mountain NP. Good luck tomorrow and keep posting your shots so we can copy you in the next couple of days.

Bad news Nick, we got hungry on the road and ate the cookies.:D

We stayed in Santa Fe for the last 2 nights. The motel says it has wireless internet, while it does provide
it, you have to be in the lobby for it to work.

Another minor problem, the remote mouse died. Processing shots is a pain with the pad on the laptop.
So a very limited amount of shots are being worked on until I get a new mouse.

A couple of quick ones from the Panasonic P&S.

Hey Nick, I was kidding about the cookies. mwink.gif

One more thing, the weather for the balloon festival is looking bad for Sunday.
We may have to come up with a new plan. Start thinking.

    Thanks Aaron.

We did stop at Bandalier, and I know Kate has one or two of the others on a list.

    This Morning, Balloon Festival.

We tried to get to the festival this morning, what a nightmare.
After sitting in traffic for 45 minutes and moving about a block, seeing that we were still 1 1/4 miles
from where we needed to be, I was ready to just forget about it.
But Kate came up with a plan. The first group that gets sent up in called the dawn patrol.
As we could see them in the air, Kate said, "Why don't we go to where they're going, and shoot them as they land."
I knew she was intelligent, after all, she married me.:D

A few of my balloon shots. (out of many hundreds)

    Thanks guys.

Ann, we're meeting up with them tonight here in Albuquerque.
Kendel will be flying in later.

Yesterday, the 3rd, we went to a ghost town, that wasn't all that great, and we went to Bosque.
It's way to early for the birds to show up yet, but we'd never been there, so we thought, what the heck.

    A few from Bosque.

I seen in Coldclimb's thread that they found a snake. We found one also.

    386694855_3ssiV-L.jpg

    Not a happy snake.
    386694869_ooZXY-L.jpg

We stay on the trails now.

Dave, I really like the way you timed the sun to get in just the right position on several of your shots with arches. Also, #1 shows scale in a great manner. The sheer size of the rock compared to the house.
