Yup, you've got keywords and gallery description - good! Now, wait for some new stuff we'll be adding (I hope, in the not too distant future) to improve GIS.

Thanks Andy - response appreciated thumb.gif

Andy, could you please tell us...
how to get rid of all the Smugmug gobbledygook. Referring us to your tips is fine, but how about something specific like how to get rid of SM's self-poromotio & advertising?

Why, when I and others have shown it works plenty well. Follow ALL my tips here: http://wiki.smugmug.net/display/SmugMug/Maximize+Search+Engine+Findability

    More searching...

    Andy,

I have followed your tips for findablity, etc. with search engines. I realize it takes awhile for them to update. A couple of questions, please.

    1. You mentioned using relevant file-naming to help this. Is there a way to do this once uploaded to SM or do I need to rename AND upload all my photos over again? That would be a pain, to say the least.

    2. As I posted before, I am still getting this ----

var ssConfig = { AlbumID: '5846519', newWindow: 'false', transparent: 'true', splash: 'http://www.smugmug.com/img/ria/ShizamSlides/smugmug_black.png', ...

as a search return even though I have followed the 'Gotch Ya' instructions for hiding the info. Do I have to wait for them to index the page again for this to go away?

    3. I have changed a great many keywords & nicenames, in my galleries. I also registered my domains with Google. Is there an approximate period of time it takes for Google to re-index the pages or is it just a random event?

Finally, not really a question... I know you guys have had it quite difficult, over the last few days. I too had some clients visit my site, during that period of down-time. In our Internet world, reasonable people generally know that things go awry and as long as you stay in contact with them, they are understanding. I must admit, I was frustrated with the site issues that were going on but appreciate the time/work it took in getting it back up. I had clients email me and I just asked them to be patient. They said 'no problem'.

    Thanks

Filenames would be on your end, sorry. I wish I had a better answer!

yup- you can as for a re-index (see link on help page).

Can't say -but you can ask them to crawl.
