Caterpillar from a moth or butterfly?

I struggled with this little fella trying to get a photo in between his constant eating. the top image is available light, the bottom is fill flashed. Which do you prefer? C & C appreciated.

I prefer the one with the fill flash, it just brings out some of the colours.
Nice shot, I never seem to get the depth of field right on these.

Lovely capture- far prefer #1, nicer colours and light.

Think the fill flash was just too strong in #2 - try reducing the FEC a bit when doing a similar shot (eg to -1 or lower)

Overall I just like the colours in natural shaded light - I normally find fill flash does not change the colour temp as much as seems to be the case in these two shots.

Thnx guys, there was a 1/3 stop diff b/w 1st (f8) and second (f10) which is accounting for a slightly more distracting background. Would ths be a butterfly caterpillar?

I definitely prefer #1 with the natural lighting and colors. I don't know if it will be a butterfly or moth but it would be interesting to know.

I refer the #1. You didn't perform the detail shot but refer a nice background, that why's flash is not so good in this case.
