A Different Senior Shoot
A neighbor of mine asked for some Senior photos. Mom wasn't with us, so we just had fun. He is a great soccer player so we made sure to highlight his skills and love.

I haven't visited with Mom yet on these, so we'll hope she likes them as well.

So, have you been studying the strobist blog? Or how have you learned how to do such a fantastic job on that kind of lighting -- you really nailed it in all four of those soccer shots!

Thanks 1pocket. I do read strobist regularly. Him along with other "off camera" site have been very inspiring. Then a lot of expermenting and shooting. Well worth the road trip to get to the half way point I'm at.

Qarik, as for the lighting...
I had four lights plus the sun. I didn't use all of them all the time, but tried to create multiple cross lighting (90 deg from each other) with some fill light. So for example, I would have one strobe camera right parallel with the subject and another just opposite the subject. One strobe 90 degrees from the sun location, then using the last flash for a slight fill.

Maybe shrink him and the ball a bunch so it looks like he's 1000 feet up! LoL.
#4 and 6 are also very nice!

Thanks JAG...I'm blushing.
Thanks Shima. 4 is one of my personal favorites. Hate to think it was semi accidental, but hey! I like it too. Did I see you had the new 5D Mark II on Pre-order? Congrats! I'll be watching for your video.
Thanks Vysionous for your positive feedback.
Thanks zoomer for your comments. You can tell which I enjoyed shooting more. I had these images in my mind ever since he asked me to shoot his Senior photos. BTW, I'm in IF. If you ever get to this side of the state, give me a call.
