Nikkor lens repair...

After 3 months of not being able to find my 80-200 2.8 Nikkor lens, it mysteriously turned up today. (in a really, REALLY odd way!)

Anyway, the outer piece of glass and its retainer ring are missing. Anyone have any recommendations for who to send it to for repair that might be local to the Chicago area? I've since bought the 18-200 VR lens, but in all honesty.....there's no comparison at all when the light is the LEAST bit iffy.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks kids!

I've used Calumet Photographic in Chicago for repairs. Not cheap but I was happy with the quality of work.

B&H (in NY) has a repair department that gets good remarks as does KEH, but I haven't personally used either of them.

Thanks guys. I buy just about everything from Calumet but have never used them for service before..

I remember someone telling me about a "mom and pop" shop somewhere in the west burbs that all the media people use that do great stuff, cheap...but I'll be damned if I can find the link now...

I'd steer clear of these folks. They quoted me $650 for a repair on a lens. I had them pack it up and send it back to me. Off to Nikon in Melville and it was repaired for $249.headscratch.gif
