Photo Dimension VS DPI for uploading?

My question is that I often need to upload 1-2000 images at a time from shows that I shoot. I want to speed the upload process up as much as possible. I have been trying to find a chart or something that will show if I wanted my customers to be able to purchase an 8 X 12 image the file I upload should be what by what and at what DPI? example say a 20X30 print needs to be 1280X1920? and what is the DPI (300, 150, 72) ?

Thanks for any help or guidance you can give, I need to be able to turn these images around in a day not 5-7 at original file size.

Be sure and set proof delay on, so you can replace with full sizers when you get orders!

Thanks Andy, I knew I had seen that chart before but with so much great information here I get lost.
