Which Nikon body for IR conversion?

I'm trying to find out which Nikon body is best for converting to full time IR photography. I have a D70 now that shoots IR with a filter (and a tripod) but would like to have the freedom of hand held shooting. I want to stick with Nikon so that I don't have to buy new lenses as well. I have read that some converted cameras give better quality results than others. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks
— Kevin

I've seen shots from D70s and D200's that were converted to IR, as well as one D40

I've got a buddy who's selling a Fuji S3 Pro for cheap. It takes Nikon mount and may be an interesting option since it's suppose to have a wider dynamic range.

PM me if you are looking for a cheap body for such work.

I have not gotten any response from Maxmax nor have I been able to find any reviews on the web comparing/ranking IR converted Nikon bodies. Does any know of where I can look to find a good/reliable article covering this?

    Thanks

    From this MaxMax page:

    http://maxmax.com/IRCameraConversions.htm

"For digital SLR cameras, we convert the ...

    Nikon D1X, D2X, D2H, D100, D40, D40X, D50, D60, D70, D80, D200 and D300 ..."

(ziggy edit, I isolated only the Nikon models. Maxmax does Canon and Fuji dSLRs as well.)

    Later on the same page:

    "
For best quality, the 5D, D200 and S3 Pro are the best."

The Nikon D200 would seem to be the Nikon model they recommend.

Looking at the page dedicated to the Nikon D200:

    http://maxmax.com/nikon_d200.htm

    "

Thanks Ziggy. I saw that page and that the D200 would be the first choice of the Nikons. However, at the moment I don't really have $1,000+ (once its converted to IR only) to spend just to get the top of the line unless the next less expensive choice what just so much poorer in quality that it would not be worth it. I was hoping to find a review of some kind that went through part or all of the bodies noting pluses and minuses when compared to the others. If you come across something like that please let me know.

    Thanks again,
