Fall Foliage advice?

Now that I'm back in Massachusetts, I really want to start exploring the beauty of fall. I have a week vacation coming up next week (10/13) and have been trying to find great spots/drives in MA/NH/VT/ME.
Found this article which helps but is taking me about 4 hours from home (just north of Boston).

    I have no advice - I'm looking for fall color tips too. I'm currently in PA (visiting from California), with a week to spend heading north to visit friends in VT and NH before I have to be back in PA. This is my first time in New England during the fall.

    Looks like VT is peaking now. I've decided on a trip that will take about 4 hours to get there and back with another few hours driving through small towns and to two or three waterfalls. I'll post my trip report as soon as I can.

    Did you leave?
    The upper elevations of the Southern Green Mountains have already peaked- CT river valley and maybe Western Mass would be a safer bet.

    Hey-
    Thanks for the post. Great panorama. What falls are those in the October gallery?
    I'm heading out in the morning. Taking 89 to White River Junction then through Woodstock and up to Moss Glenn Falls then down and across Rt 125 and back through Rt 7. Figured it's worth a shot to see what's out there and explore for the future - unless you think that area is completely done.
    Was going to head up the Maine coast later in the week.

    Back from the Vermont trip - areas are definitely past peak. Though the area around Lake Dunmore is perfect right now.

    There is stil a lot of color along Rts 119, 2 and the Mass Pike heading West.
