What are smugmug's plans for Android? Is there an app in development?

I'm curious, have you seen the Android phone in person? Have you tried it with smugmug either normally or with the /iphone switch?

Just curious, I have not seen one, other than in reviews/sneak previews on Engadget Mobile, GigaOm, etc.

I believe that the Android browser is based on webkit which is the same foundation as the iPhone browser so it should be off to a good start in that direction.

I know some folks on the Android dev team and they have assembled a very smart team. I also know some folks at one of the major phone manufacturers who are working on an Android phone and they say pretty good things about the Android platform.

Now, as to whether a hardware maker will pull everything together and deliver a really good overall solution, it appears to be too early to tell yet. I've not heard particularly good things about the first Android hardware from HTC though I haven't held one in my own hands yet, but have talked to people who have.

Agreed Jfriend. I think it is going to be a great phone.

Unfortunately, unless you are Mike Arrington or Ryan Block or one of the other blogger digerati (or know someone who works for TMobile dev), we really aren't going to know anything until mid November.

Yes there is an app in development
    Smugdroid

    http://code.google.com/p/smugdroid/

Not my app, but I'd be interested in Beta testing it.

Not on the marketplace yet and I can't figure out from the code stuff alone how to get it running on my phone.

    Looks pretty cool.

BTW I love the G1, indespensible for wedding photogs.

Brides Email addresses, GMail indexes the address, click it, launches google maps, get turn-by-tun GPS directions. BAM!

I emailed SmugMug, and they told me there were no official plans to have an official Android app. However, because of my suggestion, they said they'd pass the idea over to the design team as a 'feature request.'

OHA has just added 14 new members. Android will start picking up serious steam soon... lots more software updates, apps, actual devices, new networks...

    I love my G1.

I just opened on my G1 my website http://www.streetsofboston.com/iphone and it looks very good. I don't know how it looks like on an IPhone, but the pictures fit and the navigation is working well.

Question: When i go through 'Categories', no public albums are found whatsoever headscratch.gif . When i open 'Galleries' directly, all works well... Is this a known issue?
I can't grasp the notion of time.

    all I can think is:
"Will that be on a Monday?"

I'm planning on releasing one in the near future. It's called SmugDroid and it allows you to upload pics from your phone to smugmug:
