Maximum amount of images allowed in Gallery

    I have one with 1296 images (it's my unlisted gallery for online postings) and I haven't found a limit yet. There are some screens in the UI for maintaining the site that will load a thumb for every image in the gallery. Those will be really slow if you have a lot of photos in the gallery.

    I have galleries with 6000+ photos, but there are a couple quirks that occur, specifically replacing images on a PROOF can sometimes fail and the Bulk Caption/Keyword feature has a hard time getting all of the thumbnails.

    Smug has recommended keeping them under 1000 and preferably under 300.
