We paddled in about 3 hours starting on Lake One and camping on Lake Three. If you've never been, I highly recommend it. The best thing about October is that the bugs are gone.

Beautiful. At the risk of appearing ill-informed, where is it?

This entry point is 15 miles outside of Ely, MN. Which is about 1.5 hours north of Duluth.

Thanks. I really wanted to do some star trails while I was there, but I guess I didn't understand the camera settings enough to get it done. After a 15 minute exposure, the camera was saying "Job NR" which I interpreted as Job not recorded. After a few internet searches, I've discovered that that was merely the long exposure Noise reduction at work, which takes a few minutes. I should have just let it finish and I would have had my start trails. Oh well.
