The volleyball shot is pretty good - nice timing, nice WB and reasonably sharp - it's tough to get critical sharpness shooting through the net so the shot is understandably a little front-focused but still very good.
On the football shot, the challenge is the exposure - you can't see any of the faces and faces are what bring emotion to football shots. I think if you bump up your exposure so you can see some faces you'll be pleasantly surprised at what a difference it makes.
