:help

I have had my 40D for 10 months now. The other day I had something on the sensor but that came off after a few turn on/offs.

Now the flash will not pop up and I'm getting an error stating as much and to turn the camera off and then on. That worked but then it did it again.

Any advice? Is there maintenance that I should be doing? Are these types of things typical for dslr camera? I haven't even scratched the tip of the iceberg on what I need to learn, but now this...

Thanks for your help.

I don't know about the 40D, but I had the problem with my XTi. I took it to Canon and the girl behind the counter fixed it right there while I watched. I'd suggest you call Canon, she said it's common for the lifting mechanism to get off track.
