Thanks for the comments. Very hard to take a bad shot of this scene as it was just so awesome to stand there and witness it all.

Very nice. One question: do the rocks and shoreline on the right add anything? Might you crop them out and get an even more focused image? But I may be wrong about that.

Thanks, I prefer the original as well, but I appreciate Jeff taking the time to work it a bit and I didnt mind his version.

BonaVista, truly is an amazing place to visit. I have been to Bryce, Zion etc and other than that, the coastal landscapes of Newfoundland cant be beat..

I agree, the crop looked good but I prefer the original. The shoreline rocks are important regarding the composition but on my monitor they looked too dark.

I PS'd it a little, see below, and am not sure if I messed it up (sorry Dave) or made it better. Again, might just be my monitor headscratch.gif

I just really wanted to see the golden colors bouncing off the rocks.

Looks good, I have to say that the foreground on my LCD's at home looked alot brighter than on my uncalibrated lcd at work, so I can understand your comment. For the most part I always attempt at having a foreground in each of my landscape shots. It was the way I was taught to shoot them.

But its nice to see other peoples effort towards my photo. It allows me to see a view or a crop I might not have seen. One of the things I am still trying to improve on is shoot the composition I see but also explore other variations, zoomed in , zoomed out. That way I will of explored other options within a scene and then decide in post which one worked the best.

Its all a work in progress, but I have to say that so far for me its been an amazing experience. Standing on the edge of Bryce canyon last year, I knew then that landscape photography was about to become a serious passion.

    Cheers

I love the original version. The rocks give it a context. When they are cropped out it seems kind of lonely.
