Female Belted Kingfisher

For a very long time now, I have been trying to get close to a Belted Kingfisher. Today, I think that I did a little better.......

Nice! I have a few of these that are a mere spec on the horizon. Its great to see one up so close!

I have been trying to get a shot of this bird for a long time, but they never seemed to let me get close.

Excellent captures! A few of them seem repetitious as posts but heck, I'd be proud enough to show all of them.

this bird is everyone's "nemesis bird"... notoriously hard to approach, very skittish... but you've captured this one very well indeed! i've gotten some nice pics of a male from about 25 feet, but it took me 2 years of trying to do it!!
