Anyone have any experience with this one? I'm looking to buy a zoom telephoto and I thought I'd get an IS lense.

I've got that lens. It works pretty well for things that aren't movng fast.
For birds in flight or kids running a crooked path, it's a little tough to get a
focus lock. This lens like light. The darker it is, the more the lens hunts
    to get in focus.

All that said, I liked mine, and used it up until I got my Sigma 80-400 os.

    I have a gallery here: http://www.pbase.com/davev/75_300is

I bought mine used for $300. I don't use it anymore so I've been thinking of
    selling it. (hint hint)

    Hope this helps you.

Had one. Sold it. Images are a bit soft. Color and contrast a bit muted. Even though it has USM, the auto focus is slow.

Have you considered, for just a bit more money, the 70-200/4? Not as much reach, but substantially better image quality.
