These are snaps without any pretensions, but might be interesting to anyone considering getting this lens - or the 40D
I don't like the geometric distortions this lens produces, particularly of faces-heads and vertical edges. DxO does not have a module for this lens, nor does Bibble have any correction for it. IQ is very nice. There is a tiny amount of CA in high contrast edges (in the roof of #3, uncorrected). So, for me, unless I want an element of fun in a people shot, its place is taking interiors and close architectural shots. Or something 'artistic'.
What do you think of that assessment?
Would be nice to see some of what others are doing with this mm range.
