Broke down and bought the new Canon 50D today. :barb Here is an image of my favorite non-primate, Lilly, taken at 640 ISO 1/60 f/5.6. This is straight out of the camera except for a minor crop and minor levels adjustment.

    Once again congrats!
For this scenario did you try highlights optimisation? mwink.gif

I did not. I use Aperture Nic, and made no adjustments on this image except a minor crop and minor levels adjustment. Do you have a recommendation?

Well...I've had the...10...20...30...and 40 D's...I may have to skip the 50 though. I'm saving my money and biding my time for a MKIII replacement.

The 50D sounds interesting though and who knows after seeing your captures I may NEED one.mwink.gif

    Have fun with it, Dan.:D

Ric, I'm saving my $$ for 5D2, too, but hey, 50D is soooo much better than 40D mwink.gifdeal.gif

What a nice portrait Dan! I've been pondering either the 50D or 5DII. I am just not sure the 5DII is for me although I love its capabilities.

As a bird photographer, I'm sure you will love the 50D. What I like most is the AF speed, accuracy, and 6.5 fps vs. my XSi's 3.5 fps. I'm sure this will make a difference in my % keepers. You already have the 40D, and so the differences for you include a much brighter bigger screen, more mpx's, the latest and greatest digic 4 processor, etc.

I new someone would recommend that. Maybe someday, but I'm really not all that impressed with IR. After you've seen a few, the novelty gets old fast. I'm trying to get my wife to use learn the XSi so we can shoot together, but that's an up hill climb rolleyes1.gif

Hey, my son and his new wife just moved downtown across from Balboa Park, so I'll be coming there a few times every now and then. Maybe we can shoot one of these days. thumb.gif
