I will be in Maryland all next week on business (flying into Baltimore and working in Buckeystown) and was wondering if there were any good photo spots around the area I could take advantage of.

Also, I'm thinking about staying the weekend and looking for some good spots in Baltimore (or surrounding areas) or maybe going to DC and was wondering if anyone would like to meet up for a day of shooting. Let me know.

Thanks all.

Sean

Hi Sean, I moved this thread into the Locations forum for you! thumb.gif

I'm out of town that weekend as I mentioned to you, but I know there are a few other MD/DC locals here.

    Anyone? ear.gif

I'm sure you'll get some great suggestions but just in case.
I was in Gaithersburg a few weeks ago for business. I did my usual and found the closest green spot on the map. I went to Seneca Creek State Park. There's some nice trails with a small lake. When I was there there was no color but my guess, with color, the lake would be gorgeous.

If you are willing to drive a little, maybe a half hour or so, Antietam National Battlefield is a good location to shoot. I'm there every chance I get. The colors should be about at their peak now so you'ld better hurry before the winds pick up and blow the leaves away.

Downtown Baltimore has some nice sites, including the Harbor, the Aquarium, and lots of cool neighborhoods nearby.

The waterfront in Annapolis is a fun place to visit.

If you head over towards Antietam Battlefield, Harper's Ferry is another nice destination. If you like hiking, take one of the trails up to Maryland Heights (http://www.nps.gov/archive/hafe/maps/maryland.htm). The views are spectacular, and the colors should be near peak.

Look on www.washingtonpost.com & www.baltimoresun.com for possible activities/festivals/etc. that might be occuring.

George Washington Parkway should have some great fall colors this weekend. If Shenandoah Drive won't feel too long, you shouldn't miss the Skyline Drive. This weekend is expected to be one of the best in a long-time for fall colors.

While in downtown Baltimore there are quite a few really cool buildings like the Domino's sugar building, the convention center (also Edgar Allen Poe grave site) directly behind it. Fort McHenry is a great photo op.

Do a search in this section for D.C. and you will find loads of other locations.

If you like Shrimp, there is a place called John Stevens located at Fells Point that has the absolute best shrimp in the country......

The old police station that was the opening shot of Homicide life on the streets is caddy corner across the street from John Stevens.
