I was curious as to how many of you keep a printed portfolio. If so what kind/size portfolio do you keep.

I do. Mine is actually a photo book through MPix and I've received a lot of positive comments by those who I've shown it to. While your website may be available 24/7, the person you're chatting with may not have a connection immediately accessible so it's quite easy to just pull the photo book out and and hand it to them.

I shoot nature / landscapes so I went with the landscape version of the 8.5x11 sized book.

Blurb.com and Lulu.com are two to check out. I have only tried Blurb. 10 x 8 is what I bought.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I am in the process of gathering images to put in my portfolio and deciding how to put it together. I will take a closer look at blurb. I have never looked at lulu so I will check them out as well. I'm looking forward to receiving other suggestions as well.
Please chime in if you have a suggestion. ear.gif

Yes - I have two photobooks from Shutterfly printed with sample work. Everyone I've shown it to liked them. It's easy to put together and relatively inexpensive (and it's a product option you can offer your clients too).

I do. I'm not overly excited with Lulu offerings and don't recommend them. Blurb is decent, and worth the low cost (which also means they are not fantastic). I'm quite curious, however, how their new premium paper will be. I like Blurb a bit better than iPhoto books. I'm really pleased by Asuka Book, though they are pricey. Just recently I discovered Pounds Photographic Labs in Austin, who makes (in my opinion) just as high a quality as Asuka, with more flexibly page sizes, orientations, and page counts, and at roughly 2/3 the cost.

Now here's the kicker. My (limited) experience has been that most people are happy with the quality from Blurb. While the difference between Blurb and Auska is very noticeable to my eye, and to friends of mine who really know photography, most people don't see the differences. Kinda like how most people can't hear the sonic differences between CD's and MP3's. It all depends on your standards, and if you know what difference to look/hear for.

Finally, Forbeyon has a product I've heard rave reviews about called their "Linear Book". Imagine the typical flush mount page from a wedding album, but with a laminate full bleed hard cover rather than the traditional wedding album leather cover. Roughly the price of an Asuka press book. I'm hoping to try a copy of my own in the next month or two.

I use one of these https://www.jerrysartarama.com/discount-art-supplies/Portfolios-and-Presentation/Itoya-Portfolios/Itoya-Art-Profolios.htm

and put 12x18 prints in it. At that size photos are really impressive.
