Finally have a tripod sturdy enough to attempt this (Gitzo GT1541 with GH2780QR Ballhead). These were taken in very low light just before and well after sundown.

C&C much appreciated. Any suggestions for improvement welcomed.

If I wasn't trying to do this same thing I would never know the first was a HDR. The second, however, it completely seamless (except those far off lit woods.) I had no idea even after close inspection.

Very nice. I like that you didn't make them look surreal like the typical HDR images. They still look very natural. I have just started playing with HDR and this is exactly the look I am shooting for.

Which HDR program did you use?

Thanks for the encouragement. I really like that HDR allows the freedom to grab a good image even when there's very little light without blowing out the highlights.

    Hi Alex
    Thanks for the kind words.
I'm kinda ambivalent to those HDR's that some call "over the top". On the one hand the colors are awesome, but on the other hand they don't represent reality. These were converted to HDR using Photoshop CS3

Would it be too much to ask for consituent frames? Even if small or medium sized ones?
I have a moot feeling that HDR wasn't needed here...ne_nau.gif

Good stuff, Jack. Love the subtle color in the first shot.

    Hi Nick
It wasn't about need, anymore than conversion to B&W, or IR is. It was a first time experiment of a new to me technique.

They are nice shots. To me I dont really see HDR when I look at those. When shooting HDR you are trying to get every bit of color and shadow. To me they just arent HDR. I guess there just isnt enough contrast or wide spectrum. They are nice shots, but lacking on HDR
