Too many...

I have just gotten started with using smugmug and my list of galleries is growing fast. Especially since I have to create these little galleries just for customization. When does the list of galleries become too large to manage in the lightroom exporter and when working with the SM website?

I have a pro account, is it really unlimited storage or are you guys gonna get mad at me. I feel bad about all the images I'm putting up. (600-1000 per wedding, etc)

I appreciate answers to either.

First off, you only need one unlisted gallery for customization stuff. You can put all your customization images in that one gallery.

I have more than 500 galleries in a smugmug account. There are a few places in the Smugmug UI where their interface for selecting a gallery is nothing but a flat list and that can be kind of cumbersome sometimes. It can even be unusable if you have multiple galleries with the same name which I have many (they are in different sub-categories). But, the system doesn't break, you just have to spend a little more time selecting the gallery for some UI operations. Fortunately, I don't run into the issue enough to make it a big deal. And, I'm hoping that Smugmug fixes their gallery picker UI at some point to make it hierarchical so the issue will go away completely.

I have a gallery for my slideshow on the front page. Then I needed a gallery for the guestbook, then one for my services page, then I needed 3 for my 3 banner images (I tried to make it use the same gallery but every image ended up being the same). If I add any more pages, I'll need more galleries.

How do you do all this in one gallery?

Yeah, I know about that. But is it really unlimited or is it more like ISP Unlimited... unlimited until you are more of a drain than you are paying.

Of course, you need separate galleries for things like the guestbook, which are going to be viewed by your visitors.

But for your banners and watermarks you only need one. If you give us a link to your site, we can take a look.

When we say unlimited, we mean it. There's no speedclamp or what ISPs might come up with. It doesn't matter if you upload 500MB or 20GB or more.

    my site is BIGGStudios.com

I like the idea of different images in the slideshow, than on the banner. I also like the idea of the left image in the banner being wedding, middle being portrait, and last being modeling. Maybe there is a trick to get the banner and slideshow to all look for keyword tags and I don't even need a gallery?
