Early Fall outside Richmond, Virginia

My dad always said autumn was his favorite time of year. It is fitting, then, that he passed away a few weeks ago, on September 27th, 2008, during his favorite season. He was the one who got me interested in photography, when he gave me his old Canon QL19 rangefinder. I never quite got the hang of it to the degree he did, but he would always encouraged me nonetheless. I miss him dearly.

I had to make a trip to Hampton, Virginia last week for work. On my last day, I drove up to Richmond and stopped at the Pocahontas State Park. The leaves were starting to change there and there was a pond nearby. I could only imagine how beautiful it must be when the leaves change completely.

C&C welcome.

I am sorry about your father I know how hard it is when you lose a parent. My dad passed away 8 years ago and I miss him dearly too.

Your photos are really rich. I love the colors and the way each picture is composed. I felt like I was there too. Maybe someday I'll get a chance to go too. Who knows? Thank you for sharing they are wonderful. :)

Thanks, folks. I really do want to go back see this pace when the leaves change more completely. I am envious of those who live in the east during the fall.

My dad's passing is still fresh in my mind and I have good days and bad. For the first time, I think I know how to act when friends of mine lose someone close to them. Just being supportive is all that is required. Best wishes to those who have lost loved ones close to them -- you are not in this alone, of course, and may you find meaning and gratitude through the experience of knowing them.

I like them but # 2, to me, is beautiful.
