Original Size Images hang in Safari

We tried removing all the old galleries and uploading all newly optimized images but they always only load to about the first third of the screen or so and refuse to finish downloading. We have tried smugmug's help and they have been unable to resolve. Can someone please help. We are getting to the point where this is beyond annoying.

    Which of your galleries, specifically?
    What happens in Firefox? ear.gif

I saw the problem in Safari on this link: http://smilephoto.smugmug.com/gallery/5899784_UMWnQ#376968366_zYfuv-O-LB. It worked fine in Firefox 2.

In Safari, the image loaded 1/3 to 1/2 of the way and then just stopped.

The Nature Gallery any of the pictures. Similar experience in FF but why is it doing it in Safari?

Sometimes it works in FF i Guess but definitely not Safari. My images don't seem to be too large compared to others on smugmug. We have tried uploading through Macdaddy, the web, and stright from Lightroom but no difference.

    Hm

could both of you clear cache completely, and then try this link again in Safari?

The first one won't load (doesn't display anything other than the "loading..." at the top of the screen). The second does load (though it seems to load slowly).

I've got some data, but it makes no sense. I'm going to have to escalate this one up the chain... give us some time.

As I said before, I got some data and I've relayed it up to someone that can most likely figure out what's going on here. But he's insanely overloaded, and I do not believe has had a chance to look at the data yet. Sorry I can't give you a better update at this time.

Has the Smilephoto gallery we were working with here been changed? I can't load Originals at all any more. Since this gallery can't reproduce the problem any longer, can someone please point me at a gallery that can?

For future reference folks, when we're looking into an issue for you that doesn't reproduce everywhere, PLEASE don't change any settings unless we give you the all clear.

same problem firefox & opera on linux
Noticed the same problem in some of my galleries, the only consistent thing is that the original has to be pretty big, usually the full 10 or 12 megapixel image. Original starts to load, then just stops, usually before it gets to 50%.

My platform is Kubuntu 8.04 (latest updates), Firefox 3.0.3 and Opera 9.61, on two different machines and two different internet connections (one for sure does not have a caching proxy)

My browsers do not have cache enabled, and all private data (including cookies) is erased every time I close the app.

just PM'd you the link to the gallery where I am seeing these issues.

Ok. Now what? I'm seriously getting annoyed. This is a very expensive service that doesn't work. I appreciate the help but wow.

Hi Quizzy, it may seem like nobody's working on this but that's not the case. The issue is, we can't replicate this. Cabbey is physically in the same place with our CEO and Chief Geek this week and I know he's gonna keep trying to solve your problem. Hang in there please.

Ignore Andy here, he's not fully up to speed on the issue. :D Sorry Andy.

We've replicated it... that's not been the problem. The problem is that Don's the only one that can debug this. It's on his list, he's working on it.

Thanks for letting us know what's going on. Do you guys have any idea what the time frame may be for getting this resolved?

Sorry, not at this time. We've raised an issue with Akamai concerning this issue and are awaiting their response.

Akami has confirmed this is their bug and are working on it. In the meantime we've deployed a workaround until their solution arrives and we can dial the speed back up to 11 from the 10.9995 it's dailed down to for now. Thanks for your patience folks.
