Great job on these! You did a great job capturing the feel of the place. I personally found Zion very difficult to photograph due to the immense size of everything. :D

Stop by Camera Country, Fred has some postcards printed up about the contest. Also heard about it from some Springdale locals. ?

I think you have some great shots there.

    Hey Aaron,

I'm spending the weekend in Zion with my family (actually arriving early in the day Friday Oct 31 and returning home Sunday AM). Some members of the Nevada Camera Club will be there too. We will be having a BYOFood picnic at the Grotto Picnic Area at 1pm Saturday. Feel free to stop by and join in!

We are all hoping for fall colors when we get there!

On the way to Moab we swung by Zion for a quick peek. It's a beautiful place and you're right, very green. I found it really hard to photograph the rocks there, partially because of all the tourists and partially just because there's just so much to take in.

Looks like it was a great day with your family! Have you shot it before in the morning or late evening light? I thought maybe it would be best in a landscape like that, but thought maybe it would be difficult to coordinate with getting light down at the bottom of the canyons.

i think it should be ok, i dont think the reds did well this year and they are kinda gone already. but the yellows are ok for friday.
i will really try to picnic with all of you, but for all i know... i will be three miles up in a canyon somewhere....

    hope to run into you!

lighting for canyons is a science...and ofcourse it changes with time of year and all that fancy stuff..

these shots were done around 10am, which btw is the only hour of the day that gets light down in that canyon. so yes, not only is it hard to fit the shear size of things onto your sensor, but your windows of light is a challenge too:D

those shots were a 24mm, i will have my new 16mm with me this weekend!wings.gif
