Please, please, please..............

take one big group photo, and one photo a piece of each of the smaller groups: before they go out.

If it is too late for that, right after breakfast, or something. Right after cocktails would be fun, too.

I want to see the people. If you show me people, I will look at mtns and waterfalls. I will post an example below from my workshop.
ginger, thanks

And, after cocktails could show individual personalities in one group photo, or several. Trust me, you will treasure those.......

The people, the people, you will treasure them. Long after your photos are put away to be cherished, and you have added many more, this trip and the people will be what is important. Trust me.

On my workshop, which no one wants to see now, I took many photos of the people, especially my friend, and the leader, but others: people all standing in a row, or group, with their cameras in front of their eyes........

Please, give us, who know you all only through your posts, a glimpse into "who" you were on the trip. Give us a bit of sharing here.

ginger (and don't make me show you how to do it!)

Is Humungus there, I so want to meet him. He will never make it again.....
give me a piece of him :lol4 in a photographic way.

And others........

I will bump this to the top all weekend. You all have laptops, some of you.
After all is said and done, it is the sweet tea.

thats a good suggestion ginger. but i feel like they aren't listening at all. And its kinda scary that a small group gone makes this place feel so darn empty all of sudden...

    Thanks, Lynn and Dr It.

Yes, I can't believe they won't tune in here, but when I look at the page, I don't see andy at the bottom. That is weird.

We could do anything..............that might get their attention.

Feel strange without Andy here? I suggest a coup d'etat. I will be the new "Andy". Just look at my Avatar.

Don't leave a group picture like that out in Yosemite. The bears consider that a fast food menu. rolleyes1.gif

I vote for only one Andy. Besides, as often as AW posts, its like having multiple Andys anyway. rolleyes1.gif

Does the photographer get into a group photo, taken on the run, kinda?

Lynn is correct, I took the photo, and I am not in there, and no one would have liked waiting for an elaborate tripod setup, with timed release, etc.

I said, "everyone go stand there! Closer, no real close! Yeah, if you can see me, I can probably see you". Took one photo, so unlike me, and we were off.........

    I took more.

When I turned 65 in November, I lost my good looks. Or maybe it is because I quit wearing any makeup, just throw on anything to leave the house in, don't buy clothes, except a pair of jeans and shorts. Good gosh, I have not gone to the doctor all week, since I owe him 12.00, and I have to make sure the money is there to pay for the lens, tamron 28-75, when B&H gets it back in.

Not many more photos of me. Dixie took one, is pretty accurate, but it doesn't annoy me.

But photos of the people are what you want years later, I know that. Especially in a case like this (the Yosemite trip). My thought on my workshop was that I am a member of that place, spend a lot of time there, the scenery was there the next day when I went back for egret shots, but the people were only there, then. I got alot of good shots anyway. I haven't known when or where to post them. Most of them.

This is smugmug's famous sharing feature:

    http://gingerSnap.smugmug.com/gallery/417130/1/21225612

The girl in the blue shirt is my friend, from tennis and church, the guy is the famous photographer who led us. Lots of other photos, only a few that I have posted here. Most people prefer my flower shots, I can see why. And I think they were with the 70-200 lens that I don't usually use. In fact alot of these are/were. I don't usually shoot flowers, either. I don't usually shoot in that area. Etc.

Sorry, I just have to bump this.

Doesn't anyone there have the capacity, like a laptop and a place to plug it, to send us a photo..........a message, even.

I could send a photo from anywhere, and I bet one of you can, too. Do any of you have camera phones, as rediculous as they may be.

Hey Ginger, Yosemite's like being on Mars, no cells, no internet.

Also, no group shot, no-one got one. But I've never seen so many photographers shooting each other! So there will be a flood of member shots, don't worry about that.

In fact, here's something to look forward to -- Michiel de Brieder has many shots shots of my ass as I go into my patented squat & shoot. It's a trademarked move, and I'm going to submit my patent aplication with Michiel's shot.

And it's pronounced muh-heel. Which a throat-clearing, pre-spit rasp to the "h" in 'heel.' Don't ask me to pronouce his last name!

It would have been nice to get a group photo together, but about the only time everyone was in the same place was dinner. After all, it's all about the food.

    Ginger,

You have a great point. However, as wxwax mentioned, there was no way for us to dial in...no phones at the hotel either. There was definately a lot of action shots of people like mick trudging barefoot into mucky swamp water to get the shot they wanted. Right Mick? :D

Laughing.gif @ Sid's patented squat and shoot rolleyes1.gif After seeing Jeff's plumber's crack shot of Gus, I'm not sure I could handle Sid's S&S :lol

    Hey Ginger,
You should have mentioned this earlier. As you've read, no access from Yosemite. There's just one public internet connection at the Yosemite Lodge and Baldy and One-Thumb had it monopolized.....lol They needed to make sure there were no probs on Smugmug :uhoh I'm glad they were able to join us and still keep an eye on things at home thumb.gif

Many folks took pics of other photographers and I think you'll see more and more people pics as we run out of landscape and wildlife shots to post. I have many of Andy and Gus (they were in my shooting group), as well as some IR shots of many other attendees. Plus, Nik has posted lots of people shots already clap.gif

A group shot at the dinner with all of us wearing our Smugmug pullovers would have been an excellent idea rolleyes1.gif Maybe next year.......lol
