Bulk Download Mac Osx

Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to bulk download a gallery of mine to Mac OSX 10.5.x

I've looked through many of the programs out there (only a few available actually), and no luck! I even tried smugmug's connect to server's https://upload.smugmug.com/smugdav.mg and it does connect, I can see the folders, I just can't see the images.

I'm trying to download a gallery that has about 2GB of pictures and it would be a real hassle to download one by one. No, I do not want to use a PC with the star downloader and no, I will not use parallels because it always has problems.

Mac is my only solution, our studio runs Macs only. Help is needed. Thank you.

What exactly is happening with SmugDav. Layout every single step please, as I can use it on my Mac no trouble.

Step 1. Click on desktop ~ Select "Go" from the finder menu ~ connect to server ~ input the following address: https://upload.smugmug.com/smugdav.mg. I also tried just "http" without the s.

Step 2. Login with my smugmug login email and password

Step 3. Open Finder ~ select "upload.smugmug.com" from the disk image menu on the left

Step 4. Double click on the smugdav.dmg image

Step 5. The category folders appear. Select the C23_Weddings folder (which is where I have the pictures I want to download)

Step 6. Select S638180_Proofs folder (a subcategory I created in SmugMug)

Step 7. Select A6386951_Jason_and_Christine folder - this is the final destination folder where I should be able to see and download pictures.

On step 7, the folder is blank. I went back and checked with the info command to see the folder size, it is 0kb. So the Smugmug dav works, I just can't see the pictures because they all turn out to be blank. I checked other folders where I also have pictures but there are none.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Thanks in advance for your help!

    I'm sorry that it's not working :(
I wish I had a better answer for you, but perhaps you can 'borrow' a windows lappy or something, from a friend?

Thanks Andy. I have a PC but I just wanted to find a Mac solution because I'm going to be downloading off of Smugmug about 10-20 times a year, and it's a hassle going from PC to mac all the time. Most of these downloads are weddings and engagements, and we're talking 300-1000 pictures per download.

I googled for Mac software but it seems everyone's a PC. Do all of you guys at SmugMug use the finder to get your pictures, or are you developing a software for Mac? It would be cool to have FTP access or some sort of drag and drop software.

We all use Macs with VMware Fusion for when we need windows. We develop on Mac and Win. SmugDav has always been experimental.

Curiuos, why do you need to get from Smuggy 20x a year? You don't keep local copies? ear.gif

Well I'm quitting .mac (mobileme) service because I find your service more useful and far easier to display proofing galleries for clients. I also stopped doing xdrive because it's just not that reliable. I also thought I could bulk download like I do in .mac. We do the final edits on our Blu domain site under a password, and decided to do the final edits on smugmug as well.

I am in Italy and have my associate in Florida. We run this business both ways and being that it's picking up in the US, we end up most of the time doing all of the editing here in Italy, so instead of doing double work uploading through .mac servers and downloading to then upload to SmugMug again, we decided to do one way upload and one way download.

It would be really cool to have the full bulk download on a mac. My guess is that many photogs have macs anyway? But for now I'll have to do it on a PC, if you tell me there is no other choice.

Agreed! But I assume this has already been suggested in the "suggestions" thread!

Ahh it would be so cool if someone figured this out already. I've been trying to stay away from Parallels for Mac and my PC. The Finder, Transmit and Interarchy for Mac don't work.

In fact, I should mention I'd be the first client to pay for a software for Mac OSX 10.5.x that downloads galleries off of smugmug.

    Anyone wanna develop software?

    Hi
I'm running a Mac OSX 10.5.4, I don't have the luxury of the software SmugMug use as mentioned by Andy. I use this :- Firefox Universal Uploader (fireuploader) 0.3.8 which downloads as well. You can get it here https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4724
I've found it very helpful, I get the dd failure but generally it works OK

This firefox solution works like a charm. It actually does what all the other solutions claim to do.

I will also pipe in that using Star*Explorer under VMWare Fusion solved this conundrum for me. I can even save directly to the shared folders on the Mac through VMWare's share tools. I was searching for an answer to another question when I came across this one.

fyi, fireuploader / aka Firefox Universal Uploader seems to be gone from the firefox add-on's site.

a quick google finds it here though. Might want to update the wiki.

    http://www.fireuploader.com/

anyone know why it's no longer on addons.mozilla.org?

    later,
    jeff
