Good locations to shoot in and around Southern California

Looking for places to shoot in and around Southern California. I'm just starting out with photography and am looking for interesting places to shoot. I am open to pretty much anything... landscapes, people, buildings, etc.

I am going to check out Vasquez Rocks in a couple weeks. Any other suggestions?

Also, would be great to find some other people to go shoot with... my wife's a good sport but sometimes she get's bored.

    Check out LA Shooters... weekly get togethers, and a bigger shoot every couple of months.
