Well I got inspired by a recent post to get fall color in a Japanese garden.
So I went to our local garden. Problem is there wasn't much color. We haven't had a frost yet, but this is still a nice place.

SNOW??????? I hope not... , but we do get freezing temps 8 -12 times a year.
San Mateo is a little south of San Francisco; that has it's own Japanese garden. But it's very hard to enjoy, it's so crowded. It undermines the reason for the garden as a serene place for contemplative thought.
American versions of Japanese gardens are too overgrown when mature. As a result you can't get a clean shot of a pruned tortured Maple or black pine.
like this (too much background for me)
