Anyone using the Thinktank Digital Holster?

I would like to know if the "Pop Down" feature offers any protection to the lens.
To me it looks like the extention is only made of thin fabric without cushioning.

Thanks :thumb

I am constantly using a Digital Holster 40 for my D200 with 18-200 mm lens, and from time to time the 80-400mm. After about 2 years of use, the holster is still in mint condition.
The pop-down has cushioning only on its bottom; the side walls are from very sturdy material, but without cushioning. I personally don't need cushioning material in the small pop- down extension of the holster.

I use the DH20 all the time with my 5D and a 70-200 f/2.8 with no problem. The only word of caution is my current setup actual has 3rd party handstrap that has the adapter screwed into the tripod hole. That adapter does take my tripod plate, but all that added on does make for a tight fit in the DH20. The DH40 you are asking about should be OK since it is deeper for pro body, but you could have the same issue with a pro body if you have it setup the same way.

The DH20/DH40 will work with no problem with an L bracket on it from RRS - it is just my current setup that is the issue.11doh.gif

I have the Model 30 and really don't like it!
I bought the Model 30 to replace my Tamrac Zoom-19 which I use with my 40D and 70-200mm f/4L IS lens because I bought the larger 300mm f/4L IS and wanted the extra length of the extension to accomodate the longer lens.

The 30 Model is very tight for the 40D, especially when using a hand strap. So tight that I am going to sell it and unfortunately probably replace it with a 50 Model.

I say unfortunately because, except for the extra length of the Model 30; I much prefer my Tamrac Zoom-19 holster. I say probably because I would like to find another product in which to carry a ready 40D with attached telephoto lens.

I like the larger storage space of the Zoom-19 and I also like the way the top unzips. IMO, it is easier to open the Zoom-19 and withdraw the camera than it is to open and withdraw from the Model 30.

If anyone knows about a holster case (not ade by ThinkTank) which will fit a 40D with handstrap and 300mm f/4L IS lens; please let me know.

Maybe the Tamrac Tele-Zoom Pack 517 or Pro-Zoom Pack 519 (for camera
with BG) are the right ones for you then. From my research they seem to
be designed for cameras with long lenses attached.
