We went up this past weekend. Colors were supposedly at their peak. In a lot of areas that was true. On Sunday, the temperature was in the 50s - very nice for walking about. After that, however, it never got above 34 F. Then the winds came in Monday night - 40 to 50 mph through Skyland/Big Meadows. The wind chill factor made it feel like it was in the 20s. Monday night it snowed. Not a lot, but it did put a nice coating on the grass.
We hiked down to Dark Hollow Falls on Monday.
The colorful leaves were mostly gone around that area. But, it was a nice walk and the trees helped reduce the wind a lot. Tuesday the girls (wife and child) decided against hiking in the winds and cold. So, off we drove to Luray Caverns.
Tuesday afternoon we drove over to Big Meadow for dinner. It remained overcast almost all of Monday and Tuesday.
We saw a few black bears (no photos - sorry) and a lot of deer. The daughter was so excited to see the bears. She managed to get out a try to use mom's P&S to take pictures of the deer, too. Her pictures didn't come out too well. Here are few of mine, though.
Wednesday we did very little. Mostly it was just driving home. This is an area that overlooks Old Rag Mountain (not shown - the midday light didn't work out too well).

You've got a nice group of pictures here. I think the Shenandoah Valley is one of this planet's prettiest places. Every chance I get, I ride my motorcycle up the BRP to Skyline Drive just to see it.
