2 flashes, one in the cockpit and one in the rear triggered by Pocketwizards. Flashes balanced before takeoff 1/4 power in the front and 1/8 in the rear. Shot with a 1D Mk III and 70-200 at 1/125th (for rotor blur) and f/7.1, underexposing ambient light by a stop or so.

Helicopter is a twin-turbine Agusta 109 provided by Rotormotion in Redhill, UK.

Andrew this look great, wow even, I like how the cockpit is lit up and you can see the Pilot, I like the even or early morning sky too.

Nice to know people with big Toys :D

You've done a real nice job with this shot, had a quick look at your Flickr Album, just with the Album that has the Choppers in it.

    Beautiful work Andrew clap.gif ... Skippy :D

Andrew, it's a bit too centered to my taste, but a great capture nevertheless! thumb.gif

Ingenious and original...cool. I looked at your site and really liked the 'take off' looking up toward the helicopter.

Nice one Andrew. One question though - did the helicopter have Tobinators installed to reduce buffeting??? rolleyes1.gif

cheers, Jase (and still got mine on my r1150gs - just don't ride it anymore rolleyes1.gif - no time)
