A home Studio journey

Well it felt like a journey with all the Home Depot trips
Up until we bought this house, my photo room consisted of a small room tucked away in the basement. So now I have at least made it to the first floor and have an office that I can bring wedding clients into without asking them to duck their heads.

THis was the original front room

This was the small computer office
382418471_ZQP3V-XL.jpg

Things got a bit messy

382419097_QZyqk-XL.jpg

and stayed that way for a few weeks

382418931_TVF5Q-XL.jpg

Then finally a bit of progress

382419427_gnbMG-XL.jpg

and finally it started to look like I had envisioned

382417754_6V9WX-XL.jpg

382418045_VwXM7-XL.jpg

382418316_HbPL3-XL.jpg

and this was the finishing touch

Now I am waiting for my blinds and background mounts to come in..Looking forward to getting into some studio work, its not huge but it will do.

Cheers

Dave

Thanks man, it was a long time coming. When we bought the house it had a huge family room in the back, so I knew that the front part of the house was workable...

Ohhhhhhh Wow :jawdrop that was soooooooo worth all the MESS nod.gif
What a transformation you've achieved here Dave... wow again!

I see you in the window on the last shot rolleyes1.gif
squished up against the wall :D

You must be so pleased with how this has all turned out,
you start ripping walls down and it seems to spread into every room in the house..... I've been doing Reno's too, you learn to live with the mess,
but once it's all finished it was worth all the inconvience it caused.

Beautiful new Studio Dave, Congratulations clap.gifclap.gif ... Skippy :D

Thanks for looking everyone...I have to say this was my first real house reno and at times I wasnt sure how it was going to turn out. But in the end I am real happy with the result. Finally I have spot completely dedicated to photography. I should have my studio backgrounds in soon and then I can begin to learn some studio lighting etc.

    Thanks again

Looks great! A couple of questions if you don't mind?

What colour is the dark wall I love it.

What do you call that type of print that you have on the wall?

    Cheers

The art is a photo I took of my son, that I had printed on 12" Ceramic gloss tiles. I then mounted and framed it.
The tile printing is one of the options I offer to my clients...I have a guy locally here who does the printing via a dye sublimation process. The result is very unique.

Funny you mention blinds b/c I am having a hard time with that one..Didnt know that good blinds were so damn expensive...I could buy a nice lens for the price it will cost to fit the rooms with blinds :)

Thanks for the comments. I am very happy with how the room turned out. I must admit that for a week or so I was a little uneasy about how much mess there was. But in the end I saw it coming together and couldnt wait to get it all done.

    Really nice job.
Are you going to suspend your backgrounds from ceiling clips?
    Would save you floor space....

Actually going to use manfrotto compression poles floor to ceiling which will hold the horizontal bar for the 107" seamless paper roll. This should save some space over using the self standing supports..Its a little more $$ but in the end will look cleaner.

Thanks, I have to admit that the floors heldup better than expected...The original plan was to have them refinished with a darker stain which is why I wasnt to concerned about covering them up. But when it was all done I thought the original color looked good so decided against the refinish.
