not sure if this is the best group to post these questions ...

1. Amazon S3 prices went down :ivar , how does this impact pricing/video length for pro users?

2. Amazon EC is getting better and better, is smugmug currently using EC? This might be good solution for video and photo resizing and conversion after users' upload.

thank you
jiri

    I'm guessing you don't read Don's blog? :D

use the search box on his blog, too, using 'ec2' and 's3' and 'amazon' to find TONS of posts :D

Yeah the new stuff is exciting, especially for a site like Smugmug. My own site I don't really need to scale that dramatically but auto instances of watermarking or processing uploaded photos that scales as the demand is needed is just sweet.

EC is great start, I plan to try it Oracle 11g Ent in cloud ....

I saw Don's blog before, but maybe I'm searching something wrong, it does not say anything about changes to users (real impact on individual users) with S3 price reduction and I don't see any details about EC and Smugmug. I was just curious to see if there are any plans to use EC on Smugmug.

    thank you

I wouldn't think it would change the user's cost because Smugmug is unlimited for us already. It would mean better deal for them so they could expand more (or profit more Laughing.gif =P)
