200mm f/1.8 Now What?

I shoot sports and have recently acquired the infamous Canon 200mm f/1.8:thumb to shoot my daughter in gymnastics. I thought the competition was starting this summer but instead is starting this fall.

My question: Suggestions on what to use the lens for in the mean time.

Any thoughts on basketball with this lens? Will the focal length be too long?

Start shooting to get used to it... You'll feel better with it when you have to shoot for real. What about talking to the coach and see if you can shoot the practices?

Shot a practice the other day. Yeah I need practice - many shots had red tintheadscratch.gif . Kinda - practice at practice.

Set your WB... even if it's a custom that is needed. Sounds like the lights caused a prob for you.

Shot in raw - also was not all photos, kind of hit and miss. Think it may be related to the 20D? Getting 1dmkII next week.
