Cambrian Rally
Some shots from the Cambrian Rally in Snowdonia, North Wales.
Like last time I tried to go less for the motion blurred look. There was a lot of water around so I wanted to freeze that, but still keep some wheel movement if it was possible.

Too much fill and the picture lacks light/dark differential and ends up looking very flat. I don't think it is important to see every single bit of detail in shadows. The overall effect of a picture is more important IMO.
The other trouble with flash is the various effects it can have on fast moving subjects when trying to achieve a particular look. The synch speed on my camera is only 1/180th, and unless trying to freeze the water as I was in many of these shots too much flash would have frozen bits of motion that I really did not want frozen, or have led to really odd looking motion trails. But I don't have huge experience of flash photography so I'm just going on my limited experience with it.
